There are times when you don’t need a fancy camera to take the perfect photos to share about good food. You just gotta give the people what they want. No seriously, earlier this week, I shared about the air-fried chicken wing experience that changed my life. My inbox blew up like I was selling hotcakes. The frequently asked question was — “How?” Followed by “those look so good! Recipe, please!” I knew I had to share about this life-changing chicken wing experience.
THE AIR FRYER LIFE
I’m not new to the air fryer life. Thanks to my Mom who was an As Seen On TV junkie—the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree. Late-night infomercials for the Philips Air Fryer kept coming on over and over again…until I finally caved. I headed to the nearest Macy’s to pick up an air fryer. Years ago, you really couldn’t find air fryers in abundance like you can now. There were very few on the market (or in-store). Now, you can find them everywhere including in discount stores. Perhaps big-name retailers didn’t buy into the hype (early on), but being the kitchen gadget junkie that I am — I did.
CONFESSION
You may not believe this, but out of all the years I’ve owned my air fryer, I only made “fried” chicken wings in the air fryer twice, including the day I decided to share about these wings. TWICE. You read that right. I’ve had my air fryer for seven years! The second and third times making wings was this week. *insert shock face* Loved them so much, we ended up having “Wing Night” two nights in a row!

One thing I love about air-fried chicken is that 1) fried chicken is one of my weaknesses, and 2) generally speaking, air frying is healthier than traditional frying in oil, and it cuts 70 to 80% fewer calories and fat from your diet. There was a time we would grab wings from our local spot, which can get expensive….annnnnd it’s probably wasn’t the best idea to order fried chicken wings from the local spot several times a week. This should have only been a treat once a week, so we then decided to cut back. Then it happened. The Air Fryer Chicken Wings. Another reason why I love my air fryer. So let’s get into it!

Crispy Air Fryer Chicken Wings
Equipment
- Air Fryer
- Tongs
Ingredients
- 20 pieces chicken wings thawed, cleaned, and unseasoned
- Sauce any of your favorite flavor/combos to toss in afterwards
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 390 ℉ for approximately 5 minutes.
- Using tongs, place chicken wings in air fryer upright (depending on the construction of your air fryer. This will allow you to cook more at one time). My air fryer accommodates 20 wings comfortably.
- Set timer and cook wings for 10 minutes.
- Shake basket or adjust/rearrange wings. Cook for another 10 minutes. Do this for 2.5 to 3 cycles, depending on desired crispiness. It took my wings approximately 25-30 minutes.
- Remove air fried chicken wings and place on a paper-towel. I use a baking sheet.
- Grab large bowl or container and toss/shake wings in favorite flavor/sauce until fully coated.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
Lemon Pepper Wet is a staple in my community. My first time having this flavor was at a place called American Deli. Then I had it again at a wing spot called Wing Masters in Montgomery and Birmingham (AL). I was determined to recreate this flavor, even if I got close. Why? Because it’s JUST THAT GOOD! I’ve tried a few ways, but simple works for me.
