You probably know by now that I’m back on Weight Watchers. I don’t think I have ever been this excited about the start of a new plan. I am absolutely loving #WWFreestyle thus far! However, just because I have more 0 point foods doesn’t mean I get to pig out. It actually makes you more mindful of what you are eating, and it encourages you (IMO) to go after more core foods (or 0 point foods). I’ve also been eating a lot of plant-based foods, including no meat for the past month. I’ll be sharing more about that soon.
I attended my first Weight Watchers meeting (in years) last Saturday. If you read my post here, you know why I decided it was time for a change. I was filled with all types of emotions (mainly excitement). It felt like old times! It is also my 10-Year WW Anniversary month of attending my first WW meeting! While I was there, I ran into one of my cousins who I hadn’t seen in at least 10 years. My leader is awesome and weigh-in wasn’t dreadful. I actually started WW online before attending a meeting, and I was pretty excited to know that I was down -6.6 lbs at weigh-in. Now, I won’t be checking in often to share my “weight” progress, because I don’t want that to be the focus; however it’s a must that I keep up with my progress so that I can stay accountable. And of course, celebrate my non-scale victories. This is without-a-doubt about living a healthy lifestyle, creating healthy habits, and reuniting with old ones.
WHAT I’VE BEEN EATING
I thought it would be fun to share some new discoveries on the new #WWFreestyle program that have been yummylicious or low in point value. Also, I will tag my food photos with #ArtieCakesEats! This will go for foods that I cook as well as while dining out. You’ll know which ones are made by me. *big cheese*
It hasn’t been such a struggle finding low point items while dining out thanks to the new and improved WW app! I had this broth bowl of Lentil Quinoa goodness from Panera Bread last weekend. Of course Freestyle foods help too. Panera has so many broth bowls to choose from and they even have vegetarian and vegan bowls.
I decided on the Lentil Quinoa Broth Bowl with Cage Free Egg. It comes with quinoa and organic brown rice, lentil blend, tomato sofrito, fresh kale and spinach in a umami soy-miso broth topped with a hard-boiled cage-free egg (eggs are FREE now) and a lemon wheel. That just sounds fancy-free! It tastes fancy, too! Confession, I’m kinda excited to start back eating chicken so I can try their Soba Noodle Broth Bowl with Chicken.
BEANS ARE FREEEEE!
Now that beans are 0 SP now, I decided I would make slow-cooker beans every week to enjoy throughout the week. I’ll switch them up to avoid burn out. This is a pot of lima beans and butter beans, and they have been everything. I used a vegetable bouillon cube and added onions and bell peppers. Mama would be proud!

I also whipped up this delicious Stir-Fry Slaw that is plant-based, vegan/vegetarian-friendly, and perfect for those wanting to incorporate more plant-based foods into their diet. It’s only 5 SP per serving and you can get the recipe here! I shared earlier that I wanted to eat more plant-based meals in 2018 and I meant it.
That’s about it for now! I’m learning and discovering so many things, so stay tuned. As always, if you are new to the family…Welcome!
