This velvety smooth, bourbon coffee is exquisitely delicious! It’s a harmonious blend of Disaronno Velvet liqueur, bourbon whiskey, and espresso-style coffee. Add your whipped topping and freshly grated cinnamon and nutmeg to make this delicious coffee drink a smooth nightcap or after-dinner “dessert”.
If you love coffee, this Dalgona Coffee became an instant favorite in our house. You can make it as sweet or not-so-sweet as you want. If you opt for not-so-sweet, these Bourbon Glazed Cinnamon Rolls will make the perfect sidekick!
Love at first sight.
I knew the moment I laid eyes on that beautiful all-white bottle, it was going to be an instant connection. Disaronno Velvet, the one that stole my heart. I’m a sucker for creamy adult beverages like White Russians, Coquito, and my holiday favorite: Evan Williams Egg Nog. As for me and Velvet? We’ve been inseparable ever since.
What does Disaronno Velvet taste like?
It’s incredibly sleek and you can taste the notes of almond, vanilla, and chocolate with each sip. It’s smooth like velvet (literally, thus the name), and so smooth going down. I particularly enjoy it served over ice. It’s also nut-allergy free and gluten-free.
Ingredients needed for this Velvet Bourbon Coffee:
- Disaronno Velvet – the silky smooth distinctiveness of this liqueur is absolutely perfect.
- Bourbon Whiskey – adds an unexpected edge that makes this coffee the perfect nightcap or after-dinner “dessert“.
- Espresso-style coffee – I love this coffee. If coffee doesn’t keep you up at night, try it. Feel free to use your favorite blend/roast if it’s too strong.
- Whipped Topping – when this drink is topped with whipped topping, as it melts into the coffee, it adds a delicious creaminess that makes you crave each sip.
- Cinnamon – adds a bite of intensity.
- Nutmeg – offers the subtle essence of the season.
How do I make this drink alcohol-free?
- For the Velvet liqueur: try using a non-alcoholic Irish Cream or a beverage similar.
- For the bourbon: I recommend using a non-alcohol spirit like Kentucky 74 (a Distilled Non-Alcoholic Whiskey). It’s used for making bourbon-free cocktails with the same great taste. I have not tried it yet, but I’ve heard great things! “Kentucky 74 delivers a high-quality, smooth finish, underpinned by familiar notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak.” Doesn’t that sound amazing?
- Another option would be to use bourbon extract in your coffee along with the non-alcoholic Irish Cream.
- Espresso-style coffee.
What Bourbon should I use?
I have two favorites right now: I love Woodford Reserve Bourbon Whiskey which is what I used when I first made this drink. My new favorite is Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey. It is now available in our area after searching for over a year. It’s an excellent choice and it’s also made by a black-owned distillery. You should also look into visiting the distillery and going on a tour!
