My hiatus from exercising may not have been planned, but it has definitely made me realize how much I miss it. I know there were days that I dreaded getting up early to go on that training run, or head to the gym. But it wasn’t until now that I realized how much it was an important part of my life.
Here is a list of things that I miss. I hope that it will serve as motivation as I go from the Couch to a 5K (and beyond).
- My runner friends.
- Getting up on Saturday mornings to run on the trail.
- Sharing my workouts to Instagram. You know if you don’t post it, it didn’t happen.
- Signing up for races.
- Zumba class with my favorite, Marta!
- Early morning Body Step class with Jaz-Pizzazz.
- Strength training.
- Buying new running gear.
- The amazing sisterhood that makes this journey so much fun.
- The dreaded 20-miler and having to wake up at 4 a.m. to get it done.
- Post-race grub and protein shakes.
- Racecations.
- Mercedes-Benz Marathon Weekend and our BGR meet-up.
- The Hellmaster, I mean Stairmaster. I can‘t believe I miss it either.
- Running past Pepper Place on a beautiful, Saturday morning.
- Seeing my Fitbit steps shared on my timeline.
- Run Disney and the character stops.
- My Mom calling to check on me during my long-runs.
- My RivFit (Riviera Fitness) gym crew.
- Pure relaxation and feeling accomplished after double-digit miles.
I think I’ll print out this list and post it to my refrigerator. Sometimes you just need extra motivation!

Yes, I agree. I have so many things that I miss now as well .Once I realize, that it was just so much fun being younger :( Especially as I was always running with my friends, working out with them etc. Shame, that we lose such things as the time passes.
