I just got back from an amazing vacation with my Beau in the Big Easy aka New Orleans (NOLA)! We had such a fantastic time! It was definitely long overdue, especially given the fact that neither one of us have been on vacation in a while. We absolutely love NOLA and we try to go at least once a year! This time we decided to take the train instead of flying. We had everything we needed: snacks, Nook Color, iPod, and great company. It was such a fun, relaxing trip down there. It’s so much better than driving too! What made it even more exciting for me was the fact that it was his first time on the train. We got there before the sun started to set and the streets were calling our names!
We hurried to our hotel, freshened up, and first order of business…The French Quarter! I was so excited I could hardly contain myself!!! I was ready for something good! I always had a ‘Hurricane’ every time I went to NOLA, but I kept hearing everyone talk about this drink called a ‘Hand Grenade’. So of course, you know I couldn’t wait to try one! But not until I put something on my stomach, because I knew it was going to be a LONG night! lol We headed to one of my favorite spots called Acme Oyster House. I love that place! They have the best chargrilled oysters and their Pecan Cobbler is heavenly! Next stop was the Tropical Isle…where the fun really began! After a Hand Grenade (or two…), bar-hopping, good music, karaoke, and a night full of laughs…the rest of my vacation was history!
Next I’ll share a few places we visited exploring the city!
|THROWBACK|Remember my Thrifty 80’s Baby post?! Well here’s the beautiful, vintage skirt that I found! It went perfect with my black, cross-over bag.
Willie Mae’s Scotch House
Voted Best Fried Chicken in America by the Food Network
Selected as one of 101 Best Places To Eat & Best Fried Chicken by the Travel Channel
All I gotta say is…YUMO!!! You must visit Willie Mae’s Scotch House to taste this fried chicken! The sides were pretty awesome too. But back to this chicken…it was like nothing I’ve had before. Even though it’s fried, it’s not greasy. It’s so crispy, but be careful…it’s cooked fresh to order! I’m not even gonna tell you how long we waited in line. It was well over 40 mins, but it was so worth it!
CAJUN CABIN!
Beignets
You can’t go to New Orleans without getting beignets from Café du Monde AND Café Beignet. It’s hard to say who has the best…so you must go to both!
New Orleans will always be my home away from home. I can’t wait until I return! Until then…here’s a little music that reminds me of one of my favorite spots, Razzoo!
Have a great week!!!
