I’ve fallen off the workout-wagon a few times before, but back in March I made a decision to get back on and stick with it. I try to workout at least four days a week. I wanted more than just cardio machines. I love the option of workout classes like Spin, Body Step, Body Pump, etc., which is something I never did before…well except for Spin class. It’s something about the classes that motivate you and it’s nice seeing everyone working towards the same or similar goal. Besides…we all need that push from time to time!
So I decided to take my first Spin class in over five years in March. My first day back was indescribable. lol Yes…it was just that intense. Everyone that has taken a Spin class knows about the “infamous bike seat”! OMGeee…talk about a tooshie that hurts afterwards. Goodness…Words can’t describe! It almost makes you NEVER EVER want to return…EVER…LOL but I did. If you can make it through that first class, you can make it through anything! No really…it’s a breeze from there.
I also enjoy Zumba which is probably my ABSOLUTE favorite, but yesterday I wanted to mix it up. I decided to take a Double Step class for real, for real! You must be courageous to take this class. I’ve watched through the glass door a couple of times waiting on my Zumba class to start, and wondered if I could ever make it through the whole thing. Everyone is always soaked from such a great workout…it’s so crazy to see! Seeing how everyone had such a great workout got me hyped up. Yesterday I had the courage to “actually” do it! I was a little nervous because the first Body Step class I took, I swear I saw flashing lights. Not to mention this was ONE step (plus optional risers). I knew if Body Step was challenging SURELY Double Step was going to be insane! But it’s a good challenge though! Did I mention that you would have to manage using TWO steps (plus optional risers ) throughout the entire workout?! I said to myself, “I have been working out consistently for over four months…I know I’ve built up some kind of endurance.” The class totally rocked! It will definitely leave you “breathless uncomfortable”, but the workout itself was awesome! I’m so glad I made it through the class in one piece and without the paramedics being called! lol Just kidding…it wasn’t that bad. I actually did pretty well for my first time. Some of the choreography moves/steps you have to grasp, but other than that…it’s totally worth it! I look forward to more classes.
It’s always good to trick your body and change up your routine every now and then. Our body needs activity and what better way than exercise! I’m going to do my best to keep my body healthy. Now that doesn’t mean I deprive myself of the things I love, because even I have moments where I crave those not-so-healthy things. I’ve truly learned it’s all about activity, moderation, and portion control. Simply put…making a healthier choice whenever possible. I know it’s hard sometimes, but even one healthier choice a day can make a difference!
I read a quote that said,
“We only get one life and one body. I’m sure our Creator would appreciate it if we took care of them both.” ~Anonymous
I know I’m not alone on this journey and I’m very thankful for everyone that supports, motivates, and inspires me! And for those who don’t know what Double Step is, watch this video!
