Some people may think this is a touchy subject, but there should not be any shame (in your game). Let’s talk bladder leakage. Bladder leakage is such a common thing and just know that age “ain’t nothin’ but a number” when it comes to this topic. I’m sure you’ve laughed extremely hard at a funny joke, held “it” way too long, or even sneezed unexpectedly and it happened. Also, more people in their 20’s than 80’s experience bladder leakage and that says a lot. I do find people are more open to talk about it now than they ever have before.
What you may not have known:
- 65 million people experience bladder leakage
- 51 million women deal with bladder leakage
- The average age of someone with bladder leakage is 52
- More people in their 20’s than 80’s experience bladder leakage
- There’s an #Underwareness Movement
Okay, real talk.
I already know that runners can (and probably will) experience bladder leakage at some point, especially on long runs. It happened to me. You know when you’re on mile 8 trying to make it to a bathroom (any bathroom) and there’s not a tree (not even a bush), a store, or a gas station in sight. Whether you’re on the pavement, racing, or going about your day, Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs allow you take your control back! “Now, take that!” *Clearly I’m in a 1990’s music lyric vibe*
Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs are new moderate absorbency briefs that feature a thin design for complete comfort with trusted protection of the Depend brand. The lower rise gives you an underwear-like look, fit, and feel. They will fit discreetly under your athletic and everyday clothes, too!

Check out how easy the Active Fit briefs blend in with the rest of my gym clothes. I love how discreet they are and I love that they come in black! These feel so much better than the bulkiness I’m accustomed to and they are soft. Being that they are a new product, the colors are only available in beige and black. But guess what, you can get your FREE sample here!
And while you’re at it…consider joining the #Underwareness movement! For every photo and video shared using the hashtag #Underwareness featuring a Depend product, Depend will donate $1, up to $3 million through 2016 to fund charities (including Simon Foundation for Continence and United Way) that advance the research and education of bladder leakage. They are already past the $2 million mark which means the movement is buzzin’! And with your help, Depend can make it to $3 million!
Don’t be afraid to talk about it, but be about it—free from worrying about leakage that is!

My fear for my marathon is wetting myself. I’m already slow and don’t know how I will fit in restroom breaks. Have you worn these on a run? Did you have any chafing?
Artney says
Yes! I love them! I used to wear a thick liner, but I find these provide more coverage and are A LOT less bulky. I think you should definitely try them. It’s so common to have the issue on long runs. It happened to me many times during marathon training, especially when you’re on a route where there’s just not any restrooms and you’re trying to hold it. No chafing at all. I don’t know if it were nerves or what, but I didn’t have to go to the restroom during any of my marathons, but I wore protection, just in case!

Nice post. So far so good with me not needing anything like this at this point in my life. I never considered younger women needing these but, considering long-distance runners, it makes sense for a woman to wear them.

I know lots of women in our running group have an issue with this and these look like a great option.
