This past Sunday I participated in the Black Girls RUN! Sweat With Your Sole Virtual Run! Due to other obligations, I couldn’t attend the Conference in Charlotte this year. When they announced that there would be a virtual run–I was stoked! I had the option of registering for the 5K (3.1) or the 10K (6.2) + bling. I opted to run the 10K. I had a running partner this year. Well, sort of. My cheerleader from last year, my hubby, ran the 5K while I ran the 10K. He waited on my return as my human water station. I really appreciated that.
After completing my 10K on a hot and humid Sunday morning!
From 10K to Church! I ran a 10K that morning and STILL made it to church–ON TIME!!! Ain’t God good!?
And since it’s Throwback Thursday…
Black Girls RUN! Drive to End Hunger Conference/Race Weekend 2012 (Atlanta, GA) was the first time I EVER ran a 10K. I actually signed up for the 5K, but thanks to two of my BGR! sisters (Raquitta and Toni pictured above), I was coerced into running the 10K with them. At first I gave them both a *side eye*, but I’m so glad they pushed me to do it! It was such an amazing experience–seeing all of the women (and men) crossing the finish line, people cheering you on, and accomplishing something you never thought you would. At that moment, I knew this is where I wanted to be. This is what I wanted to do. A few races later, including a half marathon (13.1)–now training for my second half–I’m doing what I LOVE! I must, right?!
You won’t believe this–guess where the Sweat With Your Sole Conference is coming in 2014?!? It’s headed BACK to Atlanta, GA! I had a total shock-face when they announced it! I am so looking forward to it and I can’t wait to connect with all of the awesome women of BGR!
Bling Coming SOON!

I’m beyond excited! I was sad when I couldn’t attend the one in Charlotte this year, but that was only due to other obligations. I’m happy it’s going back to Atlanta. I know people from other states/cities complained about it or upset…but it makes sense! I don’t live in the A, but I will travel! They posted a video as to why they ARE going back on their FB page and possibly their blog. Check it out!
