Summertime and Good Drinks

Watermelon Basil Breeze Cocktail
This Summer Watermelon Breeze Cocktail has minimal steps and ingredients so that it could be enjoyed with cousins, family, and friends, in the park, or even on the beach. By the way, this drink is for 21 and up! *To make it a mocktail, make sure you check out the notes section*
What is a Breeze Cocktail?
When I was in college, customers would come to our restaurant and order a Bay Breeze or Sea Breeze cocktail. Those iconic drinks became popular in the 1980s and even more so in the 1990s. It’s one of those cocktails that I would enjoy with sand in between my toes while relaxing on the beach or somebody’s island. That’s what this drink reminds me of.
The Ingredients
- Watermelon Juice – watermelon is one of my favorite fruits and makes the prettiest, red drinks. This fruit is also a great way to replenish fluids especially when the temps are scorching. Like, right now. In the South. Hello, somebody!
- Basil: I love fresh herbs. It will give you all of the botanical vibes that you need.
- Coconut Rum, Vodka, or Gin: I love all things coconut so whichever one you decide to use, go for it! Also, for Gin Lovers: This drink is incredibly delicious with gin as well! Hendrick’s Midsummer’s Solstice would be my top pick!
- Lemon or Lime juice: freshly squeezed citrus juice brings balance to this refreshing drink whether you choose to enjoy it as a cocktail or mocktail.
- Crushed Ice
