I was planning to make a similar version of these Sausage Balls for brunch only to realize I only had a half-pound of sausage left. I remembered that I’d just received a new shipment of Impossible Foods plant-based “meat”—and guess who ended up making their own seasoning/spices for their meatless Spicy Sausage Balls? I did…and it was everything!
Spicy Sausage Seasoning Made Easy
I’m going to keep this short and sweet. All you have to do is follow the simple steps, and you’ll have yourself a spicy seasoning that can be stored for later use. It literally takes under 15 minutes to make.

This recipe will work great with any type of ground meat whether it be traditional or plant-based. I love it because if you can’t find what you’re looking for or if you just want to “sausage-up” your favorite protein, the flavors come together beautifully! Feel free to add more or less of any ingredient. Let this be a guide to help you make your own seasoning blend!

Spicy Seasoning Blend for Sausage
Ingredients
- 2 tsps parsley
- 1 tbsp red pepper flakes optional
- 2 tsps Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp fennel seeds
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 to 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp dried minced onion or ground onion powder add fresh onion if preparing day of
- 1 tbsp dried minced garlic or ground garlic powder add fresh garlic if preparing day of
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black or white pepper
Instructions
- Mix the seasonings together then add to spicy sausage mixture.
Notes
- You can make a big batch for later. Store in an airtight container.
- 1 to 2 Tbsps of seasoning (premixed) per 12 oz Impossible plant-based ground burger. This can be adjusted.
- When it comes to herbs and spices, you can do a lot with a little. Play around and make it work for you! The above ingredient amounts are what I used. Season to taste to your liking.
