Can you believe the holidays are here? All though we are celebrating differently this year, we can still enjoy the foods that we love. You may remember when I shared about my Cranberry and Goat Cheese Cheddar Crescent Sausage Balls. Well…guess what? Now I have a meatless version! Thanks to my sisters, Caitlyn and Taylor for the idea! I’m excited because this version is simplified and the vegetarians and vegans in your life can also enjoy Sausage Balls, too. That way…no one will be left out.
Plant-Based Sausage Balls?
Turning Plant-Based Ground “Beef” into Sausage
I like spicy food, and since my ground “meat” does not have seasoning, I decided to make my own. Plus, my Sausage Balls need to have a little heat! How did I get here?
Plant-Based Ground “Beef”
Sausage Balls were on my brunch menu only to realize I only had a half pound of ground sausage left. I remembered that I’d just received a new shipment of Impossible Foods plant-based “meat” and guess who ended up making their own seasoning for their meatless spicy sausage? I did…and it was everything!
Impossible Update: They have since come out with Impossible Sausage, which you can find here. We found ours at Walmart. Just check the store locator.
Have you ever made your own seasonings?
Depending on my mood, I also like to add fresh onion and garlic to my “sausage” mixture. You will have yourself a bangin’ brunch!
What kind of crescent rolls should I use for my sausage balls?
Now from what I understand—Pillsbury, Immaculate Baking (these Cinnamon Rolls tho), Trader Joe’s, and Annie’s Crescent Rolls are vegan-friendly. Find what works for you! Either way, I know you will enjoy this recipe!
What kind of cheese can I use to make these sausage balls?
You can use your favorite non-dairy or vegan cheese (and for those who are not vegan/vegetarian—just use traditional cheese).
Disclaimer: I’m not vegan, so if you’re vegan, please make sure you find crescent rolls that are vegan-friendly. Most are but check first.
