I love chocolate, but what I love the most is being able to make my favorite candies and treats at home. Do you remember those chocolates that used to come in Valentine’s heart-shaped boxes? There are those who eat all of the chocolates and those who don’t. I was the latter. I remember biting into each chocolate until I found a flavor I liked.
Flavors like Dark Chocolate Orange Cream, Coconut, or even Chocolate Raspberry Cream I would totally bite and put it back. My Mom would jokingly fuss at me when I would bite into the chocolate and leave it half-eaten. I think every kid did this at some point. That may or may not drive you through the roof, but if you know, you know. Surprisingly, I like more of those different chocolate flavors as an adult!
For the love of Chocolate and Peanuts!
If you were lucky, or what I like to call blessed — you would come across a Chocolate Peanut Cluster in your assortment box. You may have even received these clusters in your Easter basket! What I love about these chocolates is that you can enjoy homemade clusters all year round!
Ingredients You Will Need to Make Homemade Chocolate Peanut Clusters:
Semi-sweet baking chocolate chips: I like using semi-sweet chocolate chips because they are not overly sweet.
Unsalted Peanuts: I use unsalted peanuts because I usually like to add flaky sea salt. You can opt for salted peanuts to give it a delicious sweet and salty combination.
Vegetable Oil: Adding a few teaspoons of vegetable oil will give the chocolate a smooth consistency when melted. This also helps keep it from drying out, especially if you use your microwave and melt your chocolate in increments.
If you want to use a different type of chocolate:
I like semi-sweet chocolate baking chips because it gives a subtle sweetness. If you want it sweeter, you can opt for milk chocolate chips. Dark chocolate chips are a great option, too, if you like the bold taste of dark chocolate.
Can these Peanut Clusters be made sugar-free?
Absolutely, yes! I actually made another batch of clusters using this brand of sugar-free baking chips. They actually melt incredibly well, and I like using the broiler method because they melt beautifully. You also have the option of using the microwave method.

Chocolate Peanut Clusters Made with Two-Ingredients
Equipment
- Wax Paper
- Baking Sheet
- Medium to large, Broiler-safe dish
- Cookie scoop or spoon to form clusters
Ingredients
- 11 ounces baking semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 cups unsalted peanuts
- a few pinches of flaky sea salt optional
- 2 teaspoons unflavored vegetable oil
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet (approximately 15" x 10") with wax paper.
Using broiler method:
- Add one (1) inch of water to a pot that will comfortably fit a broiler-safe dish to melt your chocolate and peanut mixture.
- Bring the pot to a boil. Next, add your chocolate chips and turn the heat down to medium-high heat and occasionally stir as it melts in a broiler-safe bowl until completely melted.
- Fold in 2 cups of peanuts into melted chocolate chips.
- Using a 1-2 inch cookie scoop, scoop out your chocolate/peanut mixture and place it onto wax paper about one inch apart.
- Once all chocolate peanut clusters have been added to the baking sheet sprinkle flaky sea salt on top of clusters. A little goes a long way.
- Place baking sheet in the freezer for 20-30 minutes or until completely set.
- Allow to sit for a few minutes to warm up to room temperature.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- If you don’t have a dish big enough to melt chocolate and fold in peanuts, use two separate bowls. Melt chocolate then pour over peanuts in a mixing bowl until combined. Scoop chocolate and peanuts into clusters onto a baking sheet and follow the same instructions as above.
