Thanksgiving has become one of my favorite holidays while being bittersweet at the same time. It’s the time of year where I see family I haven’t seen in a while, a week of festivities, Turkey Day Classic (Alabama State vs. Whoever), family BBQ, Iron Bowl (Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Auburn Tigers), and nearing the end of college football season. *soul cry*
Four years ago while we were preparing for the Iron Bowl, we were saddened by the news that my team, The University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers football team got axed. I was devastated. UAB was the first major school to shut down football since 1995. It’s like they say, you don’t miss a good thing until it’s gone. It also wasn’t until it was taken away that I realized how much we needed our team.

Fast forward 4 years and here we are…
The UAB Blazers ended their season with:
✅ program record 8 FBS wins
✅ unbeaten at home
✅ school best 6 Conference USA wins
✅ Bowl-eligible
I love a good comeback story. This team has truly been redeemed. Our football team is a testament that you can’t dim The Light that was destined to shine. To say that I’m proud of my alma mater is an understatement. I’m so grateful for my team, Coach Clark, and to be a UAB Blazer! Looking forward to a fun-filled 2018 season!
WE’RE BACK! #THERETURN—MISSION FULFILLED.
