The past couple of years instead of a new year resolution, I decided I was going to have a word or as some call it, a theme word for the year. Last year my word was RECOVER. It didn’t take me long to come up with my word for the year, especially being in the unfamiliar place of the “new normal”. I just wanted to get my life back to a place of normalcy. Kind of like a kid (or even an adult) on ice skates for the first time trying to maintain some type of balance after an almost tussle with the white sheet of ice underneath their feet. I just wanted to recover. And by the grace of God I did.
Then I heard a message at our first Wednesday service of 2019 about the transforming of the mind. How often do we allow negative self-talk to get in the way of our dreams, visions, or ideas? Probably too often. How often do we speak against the lies versus what God said about us? Probably not enough.
Our lives move in the direction of our strongest thoughts. —Craig Groeschel
Recognizing that words have power and our thoughts have power, we are equipped with everything that we need to change the course of our lives through the POWER of positive thinking. It all starts with the RENEWING of the mind.
Then it hit me! That’s my word for 2019 — RENEW! I know there have been quite a few things, thoughts, and even ideas in my life that were rooted in fear. It all started in the mind. But, it’s a new year. “Ain’t nobody got time for that!” *Sweet Brown voice* It’s time to silence all doubt, fear, and uncertainty and live a life of positive thinking! In addition to that, I’ve started the #100DaysToBrave challenge with Annie F. Downs. Thank you Javacia (See Jane Write) for sharing about it! My first challenge was to share with someone that I have begun the 100-day journey toward a braver life. I’ve already shared with you, so now you can purchase the book here — and get on the path to become your most courageous self too.
Let’s RENEW our minds by speaking positive affirmations over ourselves daily!

I love this. Renew is a great one that is really necessary. My word is persistence. I want to make sure I follow-thru on the goals I set and things I start for myself this year. Not give up when it gets hard or when I don’t see fruit from my labor right away.

I love your word. I have to admit that this is something I also need to work on in 2019. It’s easy to give up, but when you stay in the fight, the benefits are so worth it! All the best to you, Ivanna!

My 2019 word is Determined. I have some very specific financial, personal and competition goals this year. It will take determination and some sacrifice to meet them.
