Hello beautiful people and thrifty lovers!!!
Ok…so I’m on a mission. I’ve decided, instead of shopping at one of the ‘big’ furniture stores, I wanted to shop second-hand to find furniture for one of my bedrooms. I’ve been thinking about this for some time now and of how exciting it would be to add my own personal style/touch to something not so new! I’ve always wanted to take classes at Home Depot to learn how to do fun, funky stuff to different areas of the home.
I’m kinda new to the thrift store ‘furniture’ shopping thing, but I do know it can be a Catch 22 situation! The good thing is you can fix up any piece of someone else’s ‘junk’ and make it your treasure. The not so good thing is…when you run across a piece that you absolutely LOVE, you better buy it! If you don’t get it right then, you will be very disappointed that you didn’t.
Which is what happened to me a few days ago at the Salvation Army. I came across the most beautiful dresser (in great condition), same color, style, etc. that I was looking for. Did I mention for under 75 bucks?! Yes…under $75! There was another girl eyeing the exact, same dresser. It was almost like we were having a staring match! You could cut the tension with a knife! lol Silly me…I left unsure if I wanted to buy it. Having a change of heart, I returned 15 minutes later to find out it was SOLD!!! I was devastated, so much that I cried. I called my Mom being a big baby telling her what happened. She told me ‘”Now Baby, you KNOW if you see something like that you better grab it RIGHT THEN!” After our conversation I felt a little better. I didn’t let it keep me down for long either.
And the search continued…
I LOVE this! The color was so vibrant and it reminds me of the couch we had growing up! Too bad I don’t need a couch or this would be mine!!!
This was really unique!
I ran across this floral beauty and tried to think of space I could create just for it. I think I’m having way too much fun with this!
I continued on with my search and I’ve narrowed my search down! The three dressers that I found have some DIY potential and I’m really excited about it! This project will involve some trips to Home Depot, getting a little dirty, and putting my hands to work! Well…me and my helper! ;) I’ve checked The Bed Bug Registry for all locations and we are ready to go. I can’t wait to get started! There’s nothing like finding a beautiful piece of furniture from a second-hand/thrift/vintage store and making it personal and special! Until then…
Have a terrific Tuesday and wonderful week!
