Stuffed French Toast
I can count on one hand how many times I’ve had Stuffed French Toast. But when I tell you there’s something special about it, I mean it! Stuffed French Toast provides delicious layers and the possibilities are endless.
There are so many amazing flavors, colors and textures that come with this time of year. One of my seasonal favorites is cranberries. When you merge cranberries and strawberries together, you create something magical!
Spreading the love with hazelnut.
I was hesitant to try Nutella hazelnut cocoa spread for the first time. But when I did, I was all in. This creamy spread is so delicious, while also being versatile. Nutella is absolutely divine when used to make Stuffed French Toast. When you add fresh berries along with the sauce from the berries, there is nothing like it.
My method of cooking French Toast
My preference for bread is bakery-style or a thick bread like this bread or brioche bread. I prefer to make my French Toast in a cast-iron skillet over medium to medium-high heat using butter-flavored shortening. I’ve also used salted or unsalted butter. I place my slices of bread in the egg mixture to submerge both sides without it getting too soggy. Lastly, I add my slices of bread to a medium-high skillet with melted shortening or butter (for pan-frying) to fry on each side until golden brown.
How to Prepare Nutella Stuffed French Toast with Berries
This Nutella Stuffed French Toast with Berries is perfect to enjoy this time of year. Also, if you have cranberries on reserve or leftover from the holidays, this is the perfect time to use them. First you make your egg mixture, then take bakery style or thick slices of bread and dip in the mixture, then “fry” until golden brown. Add your cranberries, strawberries, and Nutella and you have a breakfast or brunch masterpiece!
Building your Stuffed French Toast Layers
Spread a layer of Nutella on each slice of toast, then cut the slice in half (triangular shape). Cutting it in half is totally optional. Next, add your cranberries and strawberries to the Nutella side up, then add the other slice of bread to the top of the berries then sprinkle with Confectioners’ sugar.
I made a similar version of this French Toast recipe in paid partnership with Nutella. Since then, I’ve made revisions to the original recipe.
