Chef Robert Irvine and his team came to my hometown, Hueytown (Alabama), to renovate one of my favorite seafood spots! Bryant’s Seafood World has been a family favorite since the 90’s. I really didn’t know what to think when I found out they were going to renovate. I never really cared how the décor looked on the inside, I just wanted my food to taste good. However, after watching Food Network’s “Treading Water” episode of Restaurant Impossible, it was clear that they were long overdue for a facelift!
I love the contemporary look of the décor, bold colors, and vintage-style pattern of the seat cushions!
Now to the good stuff!
I mentioned before how much I LOVED their hush-puppies and house fried shrimp. The remix to the hush puppies gets two thumbs up! I also tried the fried flounder for the first time and it was absolutely exquisite! It was so crispy, flavorful, and not greasy at all.
The House Fried Shrimp will always be my favorite. Just like the flounder, the shrimp were crispy and flavorful. When it comes to your taste buds, you don’t want anyone to mess with the original recipe. I’m not gonna lie, I kinda miss the taste of the old house fried shrimp, but since the new and improved were just as delicious—I won’t complain. Change is good!
Chef Irvine revamped the menu adding a bar menu along with Irvine’s specialties. I can’t wait to try the Crab Legs “Scampi Style”! I wish Bryant’s Seafood World and the new owner much success. The Food Network will air the “Hueytown” episode, so check your scheduled programs.
UPDATE: BRYANT’S SEAFOOD WORLD IS OUT OF BUSINESS LAST I HEARD.
