Let me first off say…HAPPY NEW YEAR! *in my Heidi Montag voice* Wow! Can’t believe 2014 is here! I’m so excited to embark on this new year and try my best to write 2014 instead of 2013. This really is a struggle and I’ve already done it at least 20 times in two days…so, yeah, that’s my new year’s resolution!
I was beyond ecstatic to receive two very special, unexpected gifts. Someone must’ve been reading my posts and hearing my thoughts, because they could not have come at a more perfect time!
I was so looking forward to my first run of the new year. On January 2nd, the plan was to go for at least a 3 mile run after work. Like always, I packed my workout bag before heading out the door that morning. The weather outside was chippy, but nice. I had a feeling it was going to drop a little come evening. Got to work and realized I left my running gloves. Oh, and it gets better. I left my running pants too! All I had was thin, NY & Company, flooded lounge pants to go right along with my church socks! Go figure. I chanted “no excuses” in my head all while changing clothes to prepare to get my miles in. I flung open the door and it was as if blissful winds of snow reached out and smacked the bubbles out of my jaws. OUCH! It was ARCTIC…I have the PROOF!
At least I had my face mask. If you don’t own one of these and you live in climate where it’s necessary, or just plain bi-polar like ours…where the wind knows your name and chases you down like a pit bull—INVEST! So worth it!
My thoughts exactly!
Needless to say…I managed to pull out 1.04 miles according to my Garmin. And…how cute, I finished 1.04 for 2014! That means it was meant to be! And don’t worry, I’ll be making up my miles on Saturday morning.
Happy New Year, Everyone!

I would wear that…sometimes the wind is no joke here too! As for my man, he would be too paranoid, being a big black man with a mask can be intimidating for some, and we don’t want no problems :) Happy New Year!

I can totally understand black men feeling that way! I’m not gonna lie…I always wonder what people think when I’m by myself, you know? But then that wind whips me in the face and I bet they wish they had one on too! Happy New Year to you too!

Good for you for following through! I go back to work on Monday. I plan to start running as well…still trying to get my mind right! I do want to start before it warms up and I have to go out with my trainer-don’t want to be dying on the trail!!

Lol! I totally understand. One thing I can say is the warmer weather running and heat/humidity was good training (even though I had to on Jesus). Just stay hydrated. It was hard being off for weeks, but now I’m getting back into the swing. I better being that I have two half marathons back to back coming up! You go this girl, get out there and do it! Happy Running!
