Happy first day of summer!
I started off juicing last week and let me just say….I am addicted! I’ve always been a smoothie girl, but I was ready to take it to the next level. The past week has been trial and error so I’ve come across some pretty yummy recipes and nothing not-so-yummy as of yet.
Okay…now yesterday I got bold. I decided to add…*cue scary movie music* KALE! For those who don’t know, Kale has a very potent taste. It’s very delicious I must add – I love this recipe here, but adding it to juice, that’s another story. I found adding it with sweeter fruits or less potent veggies will be a nice contrast to tone down that flavor.
In My Glass:
- 1 cup of strawberries
- 1 cup of grapes
- 1 orange
- 3/4 cup of cantaloupe
- 1 1/2 handfuls of baby spinach
- 2 generous handfuls of kale
- 1 tbsp of lemon juice
I chilled my juice for about 15-20 minutes. It was a nice tasty treat and definitely one I will make again.

I’m not a huge fan of kale but my husband keeps sneaking it into our juices and I’m slowly…very slowly, learning to accept it. One of my favorite juices is simply a grapefruit and a sweet potato. Makes my belly actually feel full!

Who would have thought to put those two together! Sounds very interesting. I must try it! Do you juice the sweet potato raw/fresh or do you bake it first? I know it may be a silly question, but you’d be surprised what I’ve seen as a part of these recipes! As for kale, it’s truly NOT one of my favorites to juice with but it’s fine as long as I have something sweet to kind of help tackle that flavor. Makes it much more bearable!
