The countdown is on until the Mercedes Benz Marathon Weekend! Woo-hoo!!! I am so ecstatic because this event is very special to me. It was when I decided to enter into this awesome world of what my BGR Sister calls “foolishness” and embark on the journey to 13.1! It has been an incredible journey of ups, downs, challenges, and joys–but through it all, I’ve met some of the most amazing people along the way. I’m very excited and can’t wait to see all of my BGR girls this weekend! By the way, can you tell we love Bondi Band?! If you don’t know why we do, find out here.
February is not just about the celebration of LOVE day, but also American Heart Month! The American Heart Association has many great resources and education on heart disease and finding ways to get and stay healthy.
The good news? Heart disease can often be prevented when people make healthy choices and manage their health conditions. Communities, health professionals, and families can work together to create opportunities for people to make healthier choices.
Here are some ways to get healthy:
-
- Nutrition–find great recipes and healthy cooking tips.
- Fats & Oils–learn about heart healthy oils.
- Physical Activity–learn about the benefits of being physically active and get active! You might even catch the running bug! :)
- Quit Smoking–smoking is not cool. Learn how to live a smoke free life.
- Healthier Kids–find ways to help children develop healthy habits early that can be used throughout their lifetime.
- Weight Management–It’s so hard to lose, but so easy to gain. Find out how to keep it off by making healthy choices daily.
- Stress Management–I know it’s cliché, but “Too blessed to be stressed!” Find ways to alleviate stress and manage your life one day at a time.
Spread the word and encourage others to live heart healthy lives! In the meantime, I’ll be preparing to run, walk, and maybe even crawl my way to the finish lines of the Mercedes Half Marathon AND the Princess Half Marathon! Did I mention that they are 7 days apart? It’s “foolishness” I know…but I love it and my heart is happy!
