Eeeeeek! I’m so excited! I’m running the Peachtree Road Race, y’all! For those who didn’t know, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) Peachtree Road Race is held on July 4th every year in Atlanta, Georgia. It is known as the largest running event in the USA as well as the world’s largest 10K race with an estimated 60,000 participants, annnnd it keeps growing by the year. I’m talkin’ people come far and wide from all over the world to participate. And I thought running Disney was cray! There is a lottery system and you can also run for charity. But…let me be REAL for a minute. I will be pulling out my old faithful Jeff Galloway tips and ratios for this race. Plus, it’s in the A, which is really hilly…in the summertime…in the heat. Bless! I already know there will be a combo of running and walking. I also love that they have been encouraging more walkers to participate. I tell people all the time it’s about the distance and finishing, not about how fast you are. You earn every mile!
I seriously can’t believe I got into the lottery on my first try. I’m beyond excited! This will be my first BIG race back since February 2016. A few of my cousins and friends have participated PRR and raved about how amazing it was/is. I also can’t believe how hard it has been trying to get back to running, exercising, and just what my life looked like before my hiatus. It’s HARD, y’all! If I take two weeks off, scratch that… one week off, it’s like starting from scratch. I don’t ever want to paint this pretty picture like it has been sooooo easy to just jump back to normalcy, because that has not been my journey. But one thing that remains is my will. Little by little, I keep chipping away at thoughts and words that try to hinder me. I have to remind myself that I am a MARATHONER, a 4 x marathoner, and I can and WILL do this! WAKANDA FORVER! <<<< That just sounded like it fit perfectly right there! lol!
With less than two months to go, this girl has to kick it into gear! I’m really excited, so hopefully you’ll see some posts about it soon. Have you participated in the Peachtree Road Race? Help a sista out! Any pointers/tips? I gladly welcome them.
