I never thought I would be skipping the nail salon to do my own nails. Thanks to the Dip Powder method, I can now do my nails at home. Invest in yo’self!
This quarantine has your girl trying out all kinds of projects, getting creative, and exploring new ideas! God will equip you with everything you need! I could shout right there! I’m discovering and recovering so many things during this quarantine. The busyness of life will have you sitting on gifts. Listen! I didn’t realize there were so many things that I could do myself or even try and actually be good at. This post contains affiliate links, by the way. Let’s get into it!
I did my own Dip Powder nails, y’all! I legit cried when I completed them for the FIRST time ever! HB was so happy for me, because he knew how bummed I was about not being able to get my nails done for my birthday. I’m so glad I took a chance and listened to that voice say, “you can do it!”
WHY I DECIDED TO BITE IT AND PURCHASE THE KIARA SKY DIP POWDER STARTER KIT
I thought the Kiara Sky starter kit was the perfect option. I didn’t have a clue what to get and it has everything in it that you need — and it comes in beautiful colors!
Here’s the Kiara Sky Dip System Color Starter Kit!
Dip System Starter Kit Includes:
– Bond (.5 fl oz)
– Base (.5 fl oz)
– Seal Protect (.5 fl oz)
– Top (.5 fl oz)
– Nourish Oil (.5 fl oz)
– Brush Saver (.5 fl oz)
– Natural Powder (1 oz)
– Clear Powder (1 oz)
– Signature Color Powder (Nude) (1 oz)
– Signature Color Powder (Red) (1 oz)
– Signature Color Powder (Gold Glitter) (1 oz)
– KS Recycle System
I can easily spend $50+ on my dip powder nails at the salon. After you get them soaked off ($10), then cut down ($5), a new installation ($40+) depending where you go. You know the shops charge for everything! Then…don’t forget your tip for your technician for great service. It gets pricey! A mani-pedi (with gel and/or dip powder can easily cost over $125. And don’t have a nail chip or break. Chileee!
My Dip Powder nails can last up to five weeks on a good set. I know by doing my own nails that I will definitely save cointtts, and I can change them when I want. I do not plan to go back to the nail salon anytime soon, so this is a great way to get better at my craft.
MY FIRST GO AT DIP POWDER NAILS
I still can’t believe I did it! I didn’t share a photo the first time. I don’t care about sharing it now, because I know I did a pretty dang good job for my first time. Thank you, Kiara Sky!
I don’t know why I took this photo at night, but this is all I got.
I love white polish/powder, but everyone was wearing white (and still is). I wanted something different. This beautiful, bright (neon-ish) yellow has been my favorite color for spring/summer for the past two years. You can try these two here and here.
I did my nails a second time! Yes, I did! Excuse the nourish oil — that’s the shine! I know I’m pretty bold to try these bold, BRIGHT colors. Especially to be a newbie!
Color pictured above: Hot Damn (Kiara Sky)
I must say, my second time was not too shabby, and it was definitely an improvement from the first time. And honestly, this set almost ended tragic, lol! I totally forgot one step — TWICE! Then, I tried to fix it. *face palm* Ended up all out of order — but I made it work.
Here is a How-To Video for the KS Dip Powder System! It’s SO EASY once you get the hang of it. I could probably be done in 30 minutes or less (once my nails are prepped).
OTHER DIP POWDER KIT OPTIONS
This Build-Your-Own-Bundle is a new option that was not available when I purchased my kit.
There’s also a Dip System French Starter Kit found here – or below (on Amazon).
NAIL ESSENTIALS AND ACCESSORIES
I do suggest getting the Kiara Sky Dip Powder Dust Brush. It’s $9.99. I was nervous about getting a different brush with her products, so I purchased it to stay consistent. I may venture out and try another one. I’m sure they work the same.
NAIL POLISH CARRYING CASE
I ended up getting a nail polish carrying case for travel similar to the one below. Whenever that’s safe again. It’s really cute and it will fit perfectly in an overnight bag. Lots of storage room too. Oh, and speaking of safe, if you still can’t find hand sanitizer, check out this post on how to make your own.
THE E-FILE (AKA DRILL)
You can decide later if you need a drill. I didn’t use one for either set. Just a good file/buff set may work for you. I may invest in one later down the road, but you may like these:
NAIL POLISH/DIP POWDER REMOVAL
I also ordered these nail polish remover clips to take the acetone off (you can still use foil, if you’ve ever had gel or acrylic you know what I’m talking about). If you don’t feel like soaking them off, you can use these while watching Netflix and chillin’.
This is for my dedicated soakers. I got this Soak Tray Manicure Spa Bowl and I can’t wait to use it.
You can find Acetone at Walmart here OR on Amazon here. Try your local beauty supply store too.

So that’s about it! I highly recommend the Kiara Sky Dip Powder System! It has been a Godsend during this quarantine. Give it a try! Let me know what you think.
If you’ve tried doing your own nails at home, feel free to share some of your favorite brands, colors, etc. since this will be the new normal.
Stay safe, friends!

Well, it’s to expensive for most of us to purchase just to try something new, that may or may not work. Maybe, have a 1 piece/color set to let us try it before spending so much money (especially during this time of 2020). For those who would like to “pamper” ourselves; yet, don’t really need to spend as much as it costs (make sense?). Also, I thought this was a product you found on line, from the way you were writing about it. I clicked on the site/link, it comes up as you are the one who own the product line? Confusing.🤦🏼♀️
Your food site is good.
Thank you for your time.

Thank you for reading, however, Google is free to research for yourself. You can’t do dip powder nails with one color to “try”. It does not work like that. If it’s too expensive, find another brand within your budget. This is what worked for ME. YouTube is free. I’m assuming you didn’t read the post because the product was clearly found online, and I never stated that I own a nail line. By the way the Dollar Tree sells nail polish for $1. Good luck.
