When it comes to disinfecting, I understand why people like brand names or going to the store to pick up what they need without the fear of wondering…will this work? Many, like myself, have not been able to find products resorting to making products at home. That’s what I had to do with hand sanitizer. You can check out my post on how to make it here.

Although we did FINALLY get our hands on disinfectant wipes, I will NOT be stressing about finding Clorox or Lysol or ANY brand disinfectant wipes in the store or online. I decided to make my own.

As for the bleach (any brand name) that falls under the EPA guidelines will work. I know our local Sam’s Club has been stocked, and a little goes a long way.

This is my preferred method. I used Clorox brand bleach for both.
I have been able to find baby wipes like these and these in abundance. All I needed was one big box and this will last us for a while. Let’s just say — a LONG time, so there’s no need to stockpile. As you can see, I washi tape everything.
You can also make Hand Sanitizer at home! Read this post.
- Bleach (any brand that falls under the EPA guidelines).
- Quality paper towel roll, cut in half (I used Viva the first time and I didn’t care for them. Due to the friction, they basically shredded as I was pulling them out of the canister. I believe the solid smooth roll “may” work better).
- Measuring cup
- Water
- Cutting Board
- Storage container (I used my Lysol can that was depleted. The problem I ran into using a recycled disinfectant wipe container was the paper towel roll was too big). That leads me to the next option — using a Rubbermaid (or similar) storage container.
- Although I encourage making enough wipes to deplete your mixture, you can use a one gallon storage jug like an empty and clean Distilled, Purified, or Drinking Water jug from your local grocer or big box store to store mixture.
You can also…
- Make two tubs with ONE paper towel roll
- Use an empty bulk coffee container
- Use any storage containers
Recommendation for storage containers:
You can get something like these rubbermaid containers to store your wipes for easy use and access.
