Hi guys!
I just wanted to peep in and share with you all what’s been going on. Many may have noticed that my blog has taken a slight shift. Although I’ve always been one that has interests in many things: thrifting, fashion, natural hair, beauty etc. — over a year ago I had to reevaluate some things. Of course as you get older, you become concerned about things, and you realize what is important. Nothing bad happened, but I realized I really needed to take better care of my health. I’ve always been active to some capacity throughout the years. I danced (ballet, tap, clogging, jazz, African Dance etc) and/or even Cheered most of life — even throughout college. But, we all know the older we get the more things change, and things start slowing down. My Mom is constantly saying things like, “take care of yourself while you’re young”. I do workout regularly and I’m also a part of an awesome running group called Black Girls RUN! I try to stay active, but it’s not just about being active — it’s also about my “diet”. No…I don’t mean diet like “cabbage diet”, “shake diet”, “water diet”, “baby food diet”, I EAT!! I mean… what I put into my body on a daily basis. I know what my body needs and I try to adhere to those things. When you know better, you do better.
It’s so important for me to get it together while I’m still young. I have so many people around me that keep me inspired and after returning from an awesome weekend in Atlanta for the Black Girls RUN! Inaugural Race I was even more inspired! I saw with my own eyes Ernestine Shepard, the world’s oldest female body builder! When you see this woman your mouth will drop to the floor! She’s 75 years young and she looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZE!!! Want to know why? It’s because she takes GREAT care of herself! Seriously, Google her! Seeing Mommies pushing their babies in strollers, women twice my age running 5K’s, basically women of all ages a part of something great…WILL inspire you!
Just so you know, you’ll probably see an increase of fitness talk or recipes flood my posts! Oh and just wait until I get my new camera! I know everyone likes to eat! I get so excited when I try something really good or a convert one of my favorite foods into something I won’t feel guilty about eating when I’m done. I want to share with others, because I know I’m not alone on this journey! Now don’t get me wrong, I do “occasionally” have my splurge days. I will never be the one to feel deprived, because it’s so easy to lose focus. Know your limits. I hope you will enjoy the posts. I’ve actually become quite a FOODIE! I’m constantly searching for new recipes, so when I prepare something good and fall in love with it…I MUST share it! I hope you enjoy the ride!

Looking forward to reading more about this journey! You are already VERY active! That is awesome. I have become less active since getting married and then even less after having my baby. But I do things: zumba, volleyball, diet…then I fall off. I am truly inspired by reading this! We have so much to live for so we have to take better care of ourselves while we are young!! LOL! Shout out to your mom! But you are much younger than me.

Hi Rhonda!!!
Thank you so much for reading! I totally understand about the ‘falling’ off part! Lol After I got engaged…I fell off. Needless to say that was years ago and I didn’t have ANY excuses. We’ve been married almost a year and after we got married I said, I must make some changes. Not sure if I’m younger than you (j/s) lol, but I do know I’m not as young as I use to be! It’s a daily process…you just have to do the best you can each day…even if it’s one thing different! You can do it!!!!
