Mushroom love…
Years ago, while attending a Southern Women’s Show, there was a demo where a vendor was sharing knives and sauces. I’ll never forget this day because it was the day that I fell in love with mushrooms outside of Stuffed Mushrooms. Before that day, you couldn’t pay me to eat a sautéed mushroom, but that quickly changed. They were the most delicious sautéed mushrooms and they were seasoned to perfection. That’s when I realized that it doesn’t take much to make mushrooms delicious. Garlic Butter Mushrooms with Soy Glaze enter the chat!
These mushrooms pair well with just about anything! You can enjoy them over steak, on a hamburger, sautéed by themselves, or even add these delicious savory mushrooms to your favorite pasta dish! The garlic butter sets them off!
Garlic Butter Mushrooms with Soy Glaze
I was so excited how well these garlic mushrooms turned out. They were so delicious, I made them three nights in a row! What I also love about these soy-glazed mushrooms is that they come together in no time. All you need is fresh garlic cloves, fresh parsley, butter, soy sauce (see notes for gluten-free option), and just a few seasonings.
Ingredient details…
Garlic cloves: The more garlic the better. Although this recipe calls for 5 cloves, I always add more. If you’re a garlic fan, add as much as you want. I also like to throw in whole cloves while sautéing my mushrooms.
Butter: Butter adds such a rich flavor to sautéed dishes especially vegetables because of caramelization. Adding garlic, parsley, and mushrooms into the mix — *chef’s kiss* See my revisions for plant-based/vegan options. I’ve made these Garlic Butter Mushrooms vegan-friendly by using a dairy-free (plant) butter. Trust me, both are equally delicious!
Seasonings: I used onion powder and black pepper when I made these mushrooms. The ingredients already pack a ton of flavor, so you don’t need much seasoning.
Soy sauce: There’s something oh-so-special about a soy glaze and even if you have picky eaters, trust me…it will make these mushrooms outrageously delicious!
Fresh parsley: When it comes to herbs, fresh is always best. Fresh chopped parsley smells lovely and it tastes absolutely divine in garlicky mushrooms.
One thing is for sure, these Garlic Butter mushrooms will not disappoint! You will be adding this side dish into your weekly rotation.
Revisions and Substitutions for Garlic Butter Mushrooms
You can use whole Baby Bella mushrooms and slice them thin.
Liquid aminos is a great soy sauce substitute. It’s a gluten-free, natural sodium and many prefer this option. It also has several health benefits.
If you do not have fresh garlic, minced garlic and even garlic powder is totally fine. But remember, fresh is always best and takes these garlicky mushrooms to the next level!
For my vegan and plant-based lovers, a dairy-free butter is excellent with this recipe! Most plant butters come salted, so scale back on the soy sauce and adjust to your liking and taste. That’s how I prepared this recipe!
If you don’t have fresh parsley on hand, it’s totally fine to use parsley flakes.
Storage
Garlic Butter Mushrooms can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. You can also freeze mushrooms for up to six months. Use the quick-freeze method, then store in freezer-friendly containers or bags. The mushrooms can be used for future meals and recipes.
