Happy Friday! I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas, y’all! I am so excited that the holiday season is upon us. I have so many fun things in the works, fun events, and I think it’s about time to crank up the Christmas music! Since it has been a few weeks, I wanted to share a few of my favorite things here lately…
- Brooks Transcend 2
I attended a Ladies Night event at The Trak Shak (a local running specialty store) recently, which I do almost every quarter. They have all kinds of fun things for the ladies: eats, drinks, discounts, and raffle drawings. I never won anything in the past. I couldn’t believe it when they called my raffle ticket as the winner of a pair of Brooks running shoes ($150 value). I was just about to purchase a new pair, so I’m happy that I won. I decided on the Brooks Transcend 2 which are the lightest stability shoe out there. It feels great, too! I have decided that they will be my training and half marathon race shoe.
- Starkist Tuna Creations
I’m always on the hunt for healthy snacks! Lately I have been stocking up on the Starkist Tuna Creations. They are perfect for on-the-go. They are packed with protein and you can keep them anywhere: your purse, desk at work, gym bag, wherever! I love that there are so many flavors: Hot Buffalo Style, Herb & Garlic, Ranch, Lemon Pepper, Hickory Smoked, Sweet & Spicy + Kids Creations: Honey BBQ and Bacon Ranch.
- Magic City Macarons
I mentioned before that Birmingham has become quite the food mecca. We have so many new restaurants, bake shoppes, food trucks, and much more! At our reCreate Women’s Conference a few weeks ago we were surprised with macarons after one of our sessions. They were amazing! We also have a new place here called, Magic City Macarons, and I’m hoping that’s where they came from. Still doing my research. MCM has so many eclectic flavors, you will want to try them all. I may need to make a trip this weekend to pick up some of these tasty treats!
- Icy Feet
Before my first marathon, my sister sent me a care-package. Inside of my package were Icy Feet. Let me tell you, these Icy Feet are perfect for sore feet after running or other activities. They also give you the ability to “R.I.C.E.” easily. You place the cold pack in the freezer (arch side facing down) until frozen solid. Once frozen, place your Icy Feet on the base of your foot/feet while sitting or lying down. It’s recommended to wear socks because you don’t want to end up with ice burn. Yes, this happened to me…long story. These will be perfect for people who suffer from plantar fasciitis and other foot ailments. You can learn more about Icy Feet here.
- Hot Chicken
Here in the Magic City of Birmingham we have what are called “pop-up” events. The first one I ever attended featured a restaurant that specializes in “hot chicken”! I loved fried chicken, especially if it’s prepared right—but this was different. This hot chicken was SO GOOD…I wanted to call it super food! Don’t laugh. Because I fell in love with it, I had to blog about it. You can read all about it and its origin here.
What are your favorite things right now?

I didn’t really care for macarons the first time I had them, but you make me want to give them another chance. Great read, BB! Your photos are on point!
