Now that fall is back in session, we need to embrace life’s messes and show a little extra love to our home before the season gets in full swing. I know for many that means school is back in session and football season is almost here. Whoot-Whoot! Summer months can be extremely busy for people who work, couples, parents, students, kids (i.e., summer break), and by the time the sun goes down, who has time to clean their home from top to bottom every single day?
Whether you are in college/grad-school, have kids in college/grade school, a stay-at-home-mom, trying to maintain a household, OR expecting out of town guests, don’t spend your entire weekend house cleaning when you could be relaxing and focusing on moments that matter. Preachin’ to myself, here. I want to relax and enjoy the fall because it’s is my absolute favorite season for so many reasons (college football, tailgating with friends, beautiful weather, just to name a few)!
SECTION CLEANING
I recently overheard someone talking about section cleaning (or something like that). You basically pick a room/area each day of the week and clean only that area. The next day you choose another room, and the next day perhaps laundry. Once the weekend hits, you won’t have much to do, and you most definitely won’t be overwhelmed with so much cleaning. Annnnd…you get to relax! Now doesn’t that sound sweet? I’ve tried it and it totally works! It’s also great for those with busy schedules. And to be honest, the only thing I like to do on Saturday morning is cook breakfast, and sweep/mop my floors.
Speaking of floors, the Wonder Mop by The Libman Company works great on all types floors, including hardwood! If you have pets or kids, it makes clean-up so much easier! Having a plan will ensure that you mark off items off of your list to prepare for fall!
BEFORE YOU GET STARTED
Have A Game Plan – It’s simple: figure out which room or areas need attention first.
Supplies – Make sure you have all of the supplies to get the job done! The Libman Company will have many cleaning essentials (ex. Wonder Mop) that you will need.
De-Clutter – Being a new homeowner, I still have items in boxes. Not to mention, I just recently had an upgrade to my closets, so I have to start unpacking those boxes like yesterday. Post coming soon. After you have your game plan, pick up any items and place them in their designated area/space. Try to minimize as much as possible. Find cute, decorative items to store items you may need in each room.
Organize Your Pantry and Closets – For your pantry: clean out any and all items that have expired. Also, if you have an excess of non-perishable goods, they could be donated to your local food bank. For your closets: box up any unwanted clothing items and donate them or give them to a family in need. You will be amazed how much better you feel once your pantry and closets are organized. You’ll feel like a new person! Ask me how I know! LOL!
