I love coffee. Hot coffee, cold brew, iced coffee, frappuccinos — you name it. I also shared my favorite single-serve coffee here. Café Bustelo (Espresso Style) coffee is one of my absolute favorite coffees, and I have a few others that I really enjoy…like this cold brew.
My Love for Coffee
I decided to get one of those fancy, pour-over coffee makers. You can find it here (affiliate link). The coffee tastes so fresh, and I love its design of it! Now, I’ll take coffee over tea any day…unless it’s southern sweet tea. But listen…nobody told me about the hype that is Dalgona (Whipped) Coffee.
The Dalgona (Whipped) Coffee Craze
I was late to the TikTok game, so I didn’t know about the frothy, with a little bit of sweet goodness called Dalgona (Whipped) Coffee. It became a viral sensation on TikTok by Newt (make sure you check it out in action here). It’s also referred to as Whipped Coffee. This coffee beverage originated in (South) Korea from my understanding, but you can read more about it here and here. I’ve also heard people say that it tastes similar to honeycomb candy (dalgona), and that it tastes like Korean street toffee.
DALGONA COFFEE (Easy-Whipped Coffee) – what’s the hype?
I decided to see what all the hype was about. Those of you who shared about it were right! Thanks to my Cafe Bustelo coffee, I was up all night, which normally doesn’t happen. Coffee doesn’t give me the rush that it does most folks. But listen…those Dalgonas were so good, I ended up making TWO. Mmmm-mmm! It was like an ice cream’ish treat in a cup. Definitely my new go-to sweet treat! Thank me later.
Can this Dalgona Coffee be made plant-forward?
Yes! I’ve been enjoying Dalgona (Whipped) Coffee since the first day I tried it. I especially love it now that I discovered plant-based milk that I LOVE! If you’re trying to go dairy-free, OATLY Oatmilk is life-changing! And yes, it’s 100% vegan! It’s the one plant-based milk that I’ve found that tastes like traditional (dairy) milk. Now let’s get into how to make it!

Dalgona (Whipped) Coffee
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp instant coffee (I used Cafe Bustelo Instant)
- 2 Tbsp sugar or 2 1/2 tsp of spoonable stevia
- 2 Tbsp hot water
- 3/4 cup to 1 cup oatmilk or milk of choice, per serving
- Ice Cubes optional
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine sugar/stevia, coffee, and water.
- Using a hand mixer, mix until you get a smooth, frothy mixture. You can also do this by hand, but it takes FOREVER!
- Keep mixing. It will take about 4 to 7 minutes to get a frothy/foam consistency.
- Fill glass about halfway, then dollop your whipped coffee into glass on top of iced milk. Stir (optional).
Notes
If you have a Vitamix, you can blend mixture between 5-7 on the dial. This will cut the time in half.
Because stevia varies by brand and type (ex: liquid, powder, scoopable, packets, etc.), use the conversion chart for specific brand of stevia leaf sweetener.
