Wasn’t the Solar Eclipse amazing? Sometimes it takes things like this to make us pause from our busy schedules (even for just a moment), soak up the beauty that is life, and get re-energized! I’m really looking forward to sunbathing in some of this positive energy that SE2017 has left behind.
OK, somewhat of a confession… I wouldn’t say that I’m the world’s biggest procrastinator (total stretch), but with social media, news alerts, and lots of distractions, we can easily find ourselves wasting more time than we need to or being so busy that we neglect the most important things — including a balanced diet and proper nutrition. I have to stay on my HB (husband) about skipping breakfast and not eating snacks throughout the day. Some days are just busy like that, and I get it. I’m guilty of it myself, so busy that I don’t take the time I need to even have a sit down meal or a snack.
Determined to maintain productivity from week to week, I came up with a few ways to avoid procrastinating, so that I can have more energy throughout the day/week. Here are a few ways that help make my life easier — and hopefully these tips can help you, too!
Prayer/Meditation. I can’t stress this enough. Having prayer/meditation time will help center you mind, body, and spirit. I find that it works best (for me) in the morning. Even if you have to get up a few minutes earlier. It creates an atmosphere for positive energy that will lead to a productive day/week.
Use a planner. A paper planner…Yes, I’m old school and I still like to use a paper planner. There’s something about being able to look at a calendar and see what I have planned for the week without relying on an app. Not knocking apps because I still use one in addition to my paper planner, but in my opinion, using a paper planner makes it easier to keep up with my day-to-day schedule. Also, you don’t have to worry about updates and storage space. Plus, it’s fun!
Write down your goals. Using a planner also allows me to organize my day and write down my goals and/or make a to-do-list. You can also do this with a journal. As I complete a task, I mark it off my list then move on to the next one. Before I know it, my tasks are complete!
Have a grocery shopping schedule. To be honest, I like to go grocery shopping before my weekend gets started (i.e., Friday evening). This allows me to have everything that I need to prepare my meals (meal-prep) for the week ahead, and it also saves me time and allows me to relax when my weekend is coming to a close.
Pack your lunch/snacks the night before. Because I pack my lunch, I rarely eat out or hit up a drive-thru throughout the week. It’s also a way to be in control and make sure I’m making healthier choices for meal time. That’s why two of my go-to snacks are Dannon® Light & Fit® and Dannon® Oikos® Nonfat Yogurt Drinks. A delicious convenience!
Food gives us energy! I know you were thinking, “a foodie too busy to eat.” Yes, it’s rare, but things can get a little hectic. However, my HB and I both came to the realization that even with our busy schedules, there are great options out there for people with busy schedules like ours.
I love that the Dannon® Light & Fit® and Oikos® Nonfat Yogurt Drinks are nutritious with no added sugar, no artificial sweeteners, and zero fat. BAM! Although you need to keep them refrigerated, they are highly portable and the perfect way to get nutrition on-the-go! They also come in a variety of flavors and you won’t miss starting your day with the protein that you need. Just in case you didn’t know, you CAN chew your drinks!
The 4 packs are available at Walmart which allow you to stock up throughout the week. Whether you need them for work, post-workout snack, an afternoon pick-me-up, or while on the road—you will be ready! Guess what else? By using this Ibotta offer, you can save $1.00 when you buy a 4-pack of yogurt drinks!
I hope you found my tips helpful! With fall, my favorite season, and college football right around the corner, things will be slowing down a bit. I’m looking forward to relaxing and catching up on more reading
