Christmas Tradition
Most people know that I have several foods that I love to make during the holiday season. One is my Cranberry Salsa found here, and my other favorite treat is Christmas Crack! I didn’t name it. Regardless if Christmas has come or gone, it doesn’t stop the demand for CC every year. I get calls and hints from friends and family every year, including one of my favorite aunts sharing excitement and anticipation of CC. I still have people calling me asking, “Hey, do you have any of that stuff left?”
THE MAKINGS OF CHRISTMAS BUTTERSCOTCH CRUNCH
As for the name, again I didn’t name it — BUT Christmas Crack is widely popular among the Pinterest community. You can also find a variety of “Crack Recipes” from Crack Slaw, to Cracked Out Corn, and sweet treats — especially during the holiday season. This no-bake recipe is a little different. HB and I decided to name it Christmas Butterscotch Crunch! Yes, that’s a mouthful, but so necessary.
Chocolate Toast Crunch meets Christmas
The Chocolate Toast Crunch is made with real cocoa with hints of cinnamon, so it gives it a yumtastic Mexican Hot Chocolate flavor. Then add the vanilla almond bark, butterscotch morsels, and the oh-so-crunchy pretzels and peanuts — you have tons of crunch! It’s so good, y’all!
CHRISTMAS BUTTERSCOTCH CRUNCH GIVES YOU A VARIETY
This version will be totally different than the original. I pinky swore to my sister that I wouldn’t share her recipe. That’s why I decided to create a new one. CC lovers can rejoice! This recipe is just as good as the original! Everyone will love it, and they will love YOU for it! You’ve heard the saying “the more the merrier”, well…this is most certainly the case. A little goes a long way. You can make a huge batch of sweet + crunchy mounds — and depending on the size, you can make approximately 60 or more.

Christmas Butterscotch Crunch
Equipment
- Ice cream scooper or Spoon
- Wax Paper
- Baking Sheets
Ingredients
- 1 box Chocolate Toast Crunch Cereal, 12.4 oz
- 1.5 cups Pretzel Sticks coarsely chopped
- 1 container Unsalted Peanuts Dry Roasted, 16 oz
- 1-2 cups Butterscotch Chips
- 1½ packs Almond Bark, Vanilla Flavor, 24 oz See notes
Instructions
- Mix cereal, chopped pretzel sticks, unsalted peanuts, and butterscotch chips in a big mixing bowl. Set aside.
- For Melting Almond Bark: follow instructions on package. Start with 30 seconds, then melt in increments. Be careful. You don’t want to burn your almond bark.
- Once you have your almond bark completely melted (nice smooth texture), pour into mixing bowl with sweet-salty-crunch mixture that you set aside.
- Mix using a silicone spatula until completely coated.
- Scoop mounds of Christmas Crunch onto wax paper.
- Let them settle into form for approximately 30 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- You can find Almond Bark at the following stores: Aldi, Walmart, Target, Publix, and Amazon.
- I use 1 full package + another 1/2 package of bark. That is plenty (for me) to get my Christmas Crunch fully coated.
- You can use an ice cream scooper, spoon, or whatever you like to make your mounds. I use 0.5 oz cup from my Rubbermaid Easy Storage containers found here.
- Make sure you have enough space (example: an island) when you lay out your wax paper for your CC mounds. If you don’t have enough space, you can use baking sheets (pick about 5 up from the Dollar Store).
- You can also use Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Chex Cereal and pick out the flavor combo you desire. (I would go with Chocolate Chex to stick as close to this recipe, but if you want a different flavor: try Cinnamon Chex, Honey Nut Chex, Vanilla Chex, or Peanut Butter Chex <<< I’m definitely trying this one).
- Store in a storage container or storage bags.
Enjoy! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you all! I’m grateful to have you along for the ride. Look for more recipes and exciting content in the new year!
