I’m so excited that spring is here and I can finally enjoy the sunshine a little longer. I’ve been getting up super early to get my workouts in and I’ve done so well especially since I’m approaching my 9-week streak! You can read more about my new fitness endeavor here. Early morning workouts require post-workout fuel which is why I’m super excited to share something pretty amazing! AND it’s plant-based!
Shake it, baby!
It’s getting warm and everyone has — or is about to kick their fitness game up a notch! Fueling the body with good, quality foods and beverages is a MUST! Did you know that March is #NationalPeanutMonth? Well, you all know how much I love peanuts, and I’m happy to say that I have become a Cajun Boiled Peanut Queen! You probably also know how much I fell in love with peanut milk so much that I made this Peanut Coconut Curry Shrimp recipe made with milked peanuts. Now I’m excited to share my newest obsession — Elmhurst® Peanut Protein Shakes!
Elmhurst® Plant-Based Protein Shakes come in two delicious flavors: Chocolate (made with 6 simple ingredients) and Vanilla Bean (made with 5 simple ingredients). Both are vegan-friendly and gluten and dairy-free. They also have 20g of peanut protein, contain no artificial flavors, no whey or pea protein, gums, or any other additives. Just clean ingredients. After you taste it, you’ll know why it’s the “Cleanest Protein Shake on the Planet”!
I came up with a fun, yet simple dessert that you can easily incorporate extra protein (thanks to Elmhurst Peanut Protein Shakes) while enjoying your NEW favorite sweet treat! Basically, two of my favorite desserts: Peanut Butter Pie + Cheese Pie came together to have a little peanut baby — Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheese Pie Shooters! This yummy treat is perfect for any occasion or after a hard workout. Yes, please! These shooters are also perfect for entertaining or enjoying ANY time of day!
Other great recipes:
Do I have to use Peanut Milk?
You do not have to. I recommend using a liquid chocolate protein drink ready-to-serve or chocolate milk. Also, for less sugar, you can substitute regular chocolate fudge pudding mix with sugar-free, and it will still be just as delicious!
What if I don’t have peanut butter powder?
Totally fine. You can use 1/4 to 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter instead of powdered peanut butter for your mixture.
What If I’m a Vegetarian or Vegan?
There are a variety of plant-based milk, protein drinks, and nut butter on the market. Yes, that includes vegan cream cheese. Violife makes cream cheese and it is amazing. Try it! Just pick your favorite and enjoy.

Chocolate Peanut & Butter Cheese Pie Shooters
Ingredients
- 12 oz of Elmhurst® Chocolate or Vanilla Bean Protein Shake
- 6-8 tablespoons of powdered peanut butter like PB2 mix with protein shake to get peanut butter consistency
- 8 oz of cream cheese, softened (vegan or regular)
- 1.4 oz box regular size of chocolate fudge pudding mix
- 8 oz tub of Cool Whip, whipped topping vegan or regular
- 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs
- Mint for garnish optional
- Shooter cups or glasses 6 to 8
Instructions
- Follow directions to mix your powdered peanut butter (mix approximately 10 tablespoons of peanut butter powder with 5 tablespoons of protein shake of your choice). Gives you about 1/2 cup of peanut butter (mixture). Note: peanut butter powder gives you 85% less fat calories than traditional peanut butter.
- Combine Chocolate Fudge pudding mix, cream cheese, peanut butter (mixture), whipped topping, and about 1/2 cup of the Elmhurst® Protein Shake.
- Once all ingredients are combined, blend and stir until smooth. You will know if you need to add more of the protein shake for consistency.
- Spoon in graham cracker crumbs to the bottom layer of your shooter cup.
- Next, spoon in the chocolate peanut butter mixture.
- Chill for at least 4 hours or for 24 hours if time will allow.
- When ready to serve, sprinkle graham cracker crumbles to the top of each shooter cup.
- Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Use 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter instead of powdered peanut butter (mixture).
- You can substitute regular chocolate fudge pudding mix with sugar-free pudding mix and it will still be just as delicious!
- Violife makes an amazing vegan cream cheese! Try it!
