Cousin Date at Carrigan’s Public House
I met up with one of my favorite cousins for our quarterly cousin date. I let her pick the restaurant this time since I picked it the last. I was so excited when she introduced me to a new spot here in Birmingham called Carrigan’s Public House. They are known for their craft cocktails and beer…and their FOOD! *swoons* and they have an elevated food bar. You already know this foodie was excited!
It’s such a dope spot with an industrial, loft-like, airy feel. They even have a patio + roof deck where you can enjoy upscale pub eats. They have everything from Street Tacos, Jalapeño Boiled Peanuts, an Oxtail Chili Bowl and so much more!
But what caught my eye was their corn dog. Like seriously…how can a corn dog be that special, right? Trust me…this one deserves to be on Corn Dog Paradise (if that’s a thing). Those of you who watch Food Paradise know exactly what I’m talking about.
Here is a rundown + a little cotija on the side!
THE CORN DOG
The corn dog of all corn dogs. The Travel Channel needs to feature THIS Corn Dog on an episode of Food Paradise!
*Pita Falafel-Ball) Sub
black eyed pea falafel (sounds amazing), tzatziki, marinara, parmesan-fried banana peppers, fries
*subbed with pita bread since they were fresh out of falafel. The pita still made for a very tasty menu option.
Cocktails
Southern Culture
gin, harvest roots kombucha, dolin dry, lime, celery bitters
Cucumber Gimlet Martini
one of my favorites thanks to firebird’s (not on the official menu, but the b-tender whipped it up for me)
Traditional Margarita
can’t go wrong with this one
Deception
byrrh, lemon, vodka, st. germain, absinthe
My best friend, Raven, came to town so I was excited when she made me pick the place. You already know we met at Carrigan’s. If you have friends coming into town, I highly recommend this place!
