It’s a Garden Party!
I’ve shared before that we have a garden and part of our garden extends to a beautiful blueberry bush. This year we had a plethora of blueberries including pink lemonade blueberries. We had so many I decided to pull out the scale to see how much they weighed on the first picking. I’m not even kidding, y’all…I know we picked at least $60 worth of blueberries off of the bush.
Blueberry Season
Blueberry bushes start producing berries around mid-April and can continue to grow for approximately eight weeks or through October depending on the region. They are super easy to grow and disease resistant. With it being summer, we wanted to use up as many as we could and freeze the rest. We also shared with our neighbors and friends. I was thinking of just about any and everything I could make: from overnight oats to smoothies, and even blueberry waffles. With it being summer, you know I couldn’t resist making a cocktail!
From Garden to Martinis
On a whim, we decided to make martinis! Blueberry Lemonade Martinis to be exact! It is absolutely delicious, straight to the point, and honestly one of my new favorite summer cocktails. All you need is just a few ingredients.
What you will need to make this Blueberry Lemonade Martini:
- Vodka: Any type of vodka will work. I love Ketel One vodka, and they also have a few botanical blends which would also be a fun, refreshing option, especially for summer.
- Triple Sec: This is the perfect addition being that this clear orange-flavored liqueur, will bring out the citrus flavor to create a nice balance with the sweet.
- Fresh Blueberries: Of course, fresh is always best. To get quality blueberries as if they were grown at home, purchase from your local farmers’ market.
- Fresh Lemons: Blueberries and lemons complement each other so well and are not limited to summer.
- Simple Syrup: This will give this refreshing drink added sweetness as well as a smooth finish. So good!
Mocktail me, please!
Can I make this alcohol-free?
Just leave out the vodka and Triple Sec and add tonic water or ginger beer since it has such a distinct flavor.
Other options include:
- Soda water
- Sparkling water
- Add muddled cucumber slices in with the blueberries to take it up a notch!
