I know it has been a minute since I have given you an update about me. Life has just been busy with some exciting, yet amazing things (much needed) — as well as making peace with this new normal. If you didn’t know, I took a much needed hiatus after the unexpected passing of my beautiful Mother. It sucked the life out of me, and to be honest, I wasn’t sure where life was going to take me next. One thing that remained constant (and kept me sane) was God, COTH (my church), LOTS and LOTS of family time, friends, and sharing foodie posts…of course, lol. However, I was still having a challenging time getting back into the swing of things (i.e., blogging, running, Zumba, just being active…consistently).June 1 was supposed to begin my fresh start with exercising. It just didn’t happen. I also didn’t want to post just to stay consistent. I want to be intentional about the things that I share, especially now that life has taken on a whole new meaning. I had a host of things that were like a “cloud” that I really needed to take care of, so I just didn’t post much. After taking care of those things, I’m in a much better space.
With that being said…
For reals (yes, for reals). If you don’t take care of you, who else will? I am FINALLY starting to feel like ME again! Thank you, God! Over the past year+ I realized that no matter what you are going through or where you are, life WILL keep going with or without you. I’m grateful for every setback and challenge, because it showed me that I am stronger than I could have ever imagined. I’m thankful for my family (and friends like family) who have been my rock during this transition. I am also beyond grateful for God’s faithfulness to me…even when I couldn’t see it for myself. Knowing that it was sink or swim for me, I chose LIFE — and to do it without regrets. I can’t allow what has happened in my life to define who I am. What’s even better about this whole situation, there’s a purpose for it all.
Perspective.
A reminder to myself and to anyone reading this:
Be KIND to yourself. Take care of yourself. Take the time you need. Heal. Do the things you love. And remember…it’s never too late to start fresh. It’s never too late to start again.
