Bacon-Wrapped Grilled Okra is just as simple as it sounds. The smoky grilled taste of okra is combined with the perfect amount of flavor. Grilling okra also minimizes, you know — the slime factor that most people tend to shy away from. Wrapped in crispy bacon, this appetizer will be perfect to serve from the tailgate to your holiday party. Serve with a delicious, made from scratch, Lemon Garlic Aioli.

It’s Grilling Season!
It has been feeling sooooo good outside! You already know what time it is — it’s GRILLING SEASON! It’s also my favorite time of year—fall. I can smell the charcoal in the air, laughter, folks tailgating, enjoying friends and family, and just having a good time!
If you’re new here, HB and I have a garden. We have been blessed over the years with beautiful harvests, so we have had the opportunity to make some pretty fun foods and recipes. From fresh blueberries, potatoes, a plethora of peppers, fresh herbs, you name it.
Grilling okra? The first time for everything.
The first time we made grilled okra, we used the summer okra that we grew in our garden. We decided to grill them a few more times but the last time we settled on Bacon-Wrapped Grilled Okra. It was a first for me, but they turned out to be absolutely exquisite! They are perfect for snackin’ or as an appetizer. Now is the time that you can find whole okra in the grocery store in the produce section.
What is the slime?
The slime is actually called mucilage, and it’s said to be good for us and helps with digestion. I love okra and have even become a fan of the softer texture of okra thanks to an Indian dish called Bhindi Masala.
Possible Slime Hack? I read that you can soak okra pods in vinegar for 30 minutes to help reduce the slime. Pods must be completely dry before cooking. If you try this, let me know!
