Air-fried bananas are so delicious and simple to make, healthy, and made with three ingredients. They are moderately caramelized with the perfect amount of crunch. These air fryer bananas can be enjoyed as a snack or added as a topping to your favorite yogurt, oatmeal, or even ice cream!

Air Fryer Bananas with Cinnamon
Who knew air-fried bananas would be so good? I shared on Instagram how excited I was to discover new ways to prepare foods in my air fryer. I even used my dehydrator feature to make dried cherries for my Cherry Lavender Bark (you can find the recipe here).
AIR FRIED BANANAS – THE PROCESS
So these bananas aren’t quite dehydrated, but similar. I chose to slice them into different sizes to see which thickness I liked most. The thinner you slice them, the crispier they are. I think I kind of like them more on the crunchy side, however having them sliced thicker are filling and delicious. Moreover, can call them “banana chips” if you slice them thin enough or simply call them air-fried bananas (or air-fried banana slices).
I added Vietnamese cinnamon, which I recently purchased at Whole Foods. It’s also known as Saigon cinnamon with a rich, fragrant flavor compared to the other varieties. In addition, it has extra spice. Many say it is lower quality cinnamon compared to Ceylon cinnamon, but don’t let that discourage you—it’s still delicious. These bananas were absolutely delightful and they make a great snack!
INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED
- Bananas – 2 to 3 (greenish-yellow) ripe, firm fresh bananas. Their necks can be green with green streaks down the sides. You want them firm. I had to use a knife to cut my bananas open. You do not want them ripe with brown spots or overripe. Bananas with green streaks or more green will be perfect, but they may not be as sweet, but that’s where cinnamon comes in. You do not want them soft. You want them firm to touch. They can be under-ripe. A green line on the segments is a great banana to use.
- Extra light virgin olive oil or avocado oil – you will need just enough oil to brush your air fryer crisping/baking rack and each side of your sliced bananas. Preferably a high smoke point oil: safflower, peanut, grapeseed, etc.
- Ground cinnamon – Cinnamon is the perfect addition to these banana slices. I used Vietnamese cinnamon and I loved it! You can absolutely use regular/Ceylon cinnamon too.
TIPS AND TWEAKS!
- Please make sure your bananas are ripe and FIRM to touch. Slightly green or even unripe green bananas are great.
- Air fryers vary. I have a Ninja Foodi Dual 6-in-1, 8 quart and it “air fries” totally different than my Philips (original) air fryer.
- If you want your bananas on the crispy side, slice them thin. Keep them uniform so they can cook evenly. You do not need a mandoline slicer.
- If 350° F is too low for your air fryer, try using 375°F. I would recommend doing a few slices to test. You have to play around with different temperatures until you get your desired texture.
- My air fryer cooked my bananas in 10 minutes. I did allow them to cool for a minute or two.
- I like to sprinkle cinnamon on top of my bananas as garnish and extra flavor.
- Use fresh bananas only (not frozen).
- This recipe is vegan friendly.
