Rediscovering yourself can be an exciting journey. Before the first of the year I decided I was going to make some necessary changes that were long overdue. If you read in my previous post, I shared why it was time for me to embrace where I am on this healthy lifestyle journey. I know by doing so, I will be able to be honest with myself about my future goals and expectations.
I’m going to share with you a few ways that have helped me that in hopes they will help fuel your hustle!
STAY MOTIVATED
I know that sounds easier said than done, but after spending so much time wishing, hoping, and dreaming, I decided it was time to put my foot down and find ways to stay motivated. From creating a vision board, using a planner to be more intentional about my goals, finding inspirational books or websites/blogs that encourage me on my health/wellness journey, or even having a mentor (even if it’s a virtual mentor), I find things that work for me.
TRACKING FOOD AND ACTIVITIES
Speaking from experience, I do so much better when I track (or journal) my food and activities. It can be traditional means or via an app. I like using both. I’m very specific when I log my food as well. That includes portion sizes, how I’m feeling, hunger level, etc. By the end of the day I can look back and see where I could have made changes or things I could incorporate. Awareness is so important, and knowing is half the battle. Trust me it works!
EATING SMART
To kick-start the new year, I decided I was going to eat smart(er). One of the things I decided to do was cut out all meat from my diet for 21 days. This would be taking a more Reducetarian approach. Yes, that‘s a thing. I honestly believe when you give up certain things for a short period of time, you realize that it may be something you can stay committed to or it may be a challenge you can incorporate from time-to-time. It also allows me to get creative with my food choices.
