If you’ve read Part 2 of my Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Recap, then you know that I casually slipped in my recap from 2015. Since it’s the close of the 2016 Disneyland Half Marathon weekend, I figured now was the perfect time!
I got up early Saturday morning (1:30 AM to be exact) so we could make it to the Disneyland Resort (Anaheim) and to my corral in time for the start of the race (5:30 a.m.). It was about a 30 minute drive due to us not staying on property (which I recommend). I was a little nervous because traffic backed up pretty quickly, but thank God I was able to get a few photos and walk to my corral with a few minutes to spare! The weather was so nice. A big change from the freezing cold of the Disney World Half Marathon. Recap here.
This was my first Run Disney 10K, and I really believe this is my favorite Disney race (besides the marathon) to date. I was so excited!
10K READY!
It was the first time my Sister was able to come to one of my races, and I was even more excited that I had my cheer squad (nephews) in tow. It was an extremely early wake-up call for the tots, but they managed to overcome the Crabby Patties.
Well, Big Brother W was unbothered (i.e. catching some Zzzzzs).
I think they were excited—or at least Baby Brother P was, and Baby L was ready for the ride! Decked out in their Disney Cars gear and all!
My Sissy & I (and then Baby P2) before the start of the race!
Chatting it up with my friends Christi and Breanna (Christi’s daughter). Don’t worry, I’ll say if for you, they could totally pass for sisters!
What am I doing? Pretty sure I was trying to figure out my running skirt situation I had going on. Long story.
I always tell people…when you run Disney, you MUST dress the part!

THE RACE
OK…mini-story. For the first time ever, I saw the “balloon ladies”. Basically these are sweepers of the course that pick you up (and in some cases put you on the slacker bus) when your pace falls too far behind. Well, Disney races are meant to be fun, so you must take photos with the characters along the course. There were some lines so long that could have easily wrapped around a small building. One up side to that is you only have 6.2 miles, so to get ahead is not as much pressure.
I had so much fun! By the way, the theme of the 10K race was a Disney Villains take-over!
It was so beautiful that morning! The breeze was lovely and I loved watching the sun come up as we ran through the park!
Look who I found! Lotso and I had that pink thing going on. Besides, you know I’m a sucker for strawberries!
Of course I had to stop for Dr. Facilier, but I didn’t have time for his antics.
I saw Br’er Fox + Br’er Bear, but I couldn’t stop because a Sista was not trying to get swept!
Hot, sweaty, and the perfect back-drop.
I ran into this sweet girl, Audrey, who I had the pleasure of meeting on the course. She had been following me (my blog) on Insta for some time. Instagram = Insta-friends
I’m almost there!
10K DONE!
Baby L (aka my Sweet Face) even cheered me right on in! Gotta love having your own cheer squad!
Disneyland 10K Finishers Medal!
Of course after waking up in the wee hours of the morning and running a 10K…you need PANCAKES! They were definitely EARNED!
Stay tuned for my Disneyland Half Marathon Race Recap!

Good for you!!! And the photos looked great. I would probably be more caught up in taking photographs of everything and forget about participating in the 10K. LOL! The actor who was Dr. Facilier from Princess and the Frog really looked like him, too!!

Loved this post, really want to do RunDisney race, but will have to wait until Paris announces a second round of dates as I’m away at the end of September, so missing out on their inaugural weekend – such a pity!!
